Sorry folks, them's the chips. I've officially moved and love wordpress more than I ever really thought I would. Its mostly the complete ability to customize that I've found so appealing.
So... if you're trying to figure out if you want to move or not, do it. Make the move. Vox is a good step stool, but I've grown. I'll continue to drop in and leave comments, but I will no longer update.
I leave ya'lls with some parting pictures.
When I needed to get mah prints down for the Va State Fair... I had no clue who to go to. I thought, CVS? They print pictures. But then my husband mentioned the Ritz Camera place. I figured, sure. Why not? Well... lemme tell you something. Those people are amazingly sweet and kind and thoughtful. It might just be mine, but the staff are uber nice. I will go back for all of mah printing needs.
So anywhoo... I needed to have these matted before turning them in, with a white mat... 1 1/2" minimum. I thought I was gonna have to pay alot for this. I used to know how to make mat frames when I was in high school... but I now lack the materials, the math (I could figure it out but I'm just too damn lazy), and the patience to deal with creating matting again. I headed over to the Michaels to find out how much it was gonna cost me and lo and behold! Pre cut mats! Wow! The best part? They were cheap cheap cheap! I got my 5 8X10s and 5 5X7s and off I went.
Yesterday I put them all together. I havent put the assigned tags on the pictures yet because I dont want to put them on the wrong place and have to be disqualified. I've been following the instructions to the letter. Its kinda hard for me since I like to be all, "AHHHHHHH! FUCK YOU INSTRUCTIONS!". But in the end, everything came out beautifully. The dude at the Ritz said, "Wow, you've got skillz!" (I added the Z) The 8X10s were stunning. I'd never thought my stuff could be blown up like that before. Its pretty amazing to see a picture that you took being made to look all professional and stuff!
I know ya'lls are wondering about my pie. Wow, that sounded dirty. My pie, cherry in fact, will commence baking either tonight or tomorrow. I have all of my impliments of destruction. I have premade crust (the rolled up kind) and the crust from a box. I also have tons of flour. As we all know, the filling can be amazing, but the crust can be the crux of the whole operation... so I have to make sure mah crust is to die for. Warm and flaky and whatnot. If anyone has any secrets they dont mind lending me, that would be super. But I'll be scouring the internet for shortcuts that provide results.
I'm uploading this pictures instead of cooking dinner because M is being a douche about it. So, there! Pictures are from the Maryland Renaissance Fair of random people and random things. Im not a big people picture taker... I'm kinda nervous and shy about that kinda thing (although, I can strike up a conversation with anyone). There were also great pics of M... but I dont post pics of me or mah fam. So nyah.
M keeps offereing to buy me a 4gb or 8gb stick. I have never even come close to maxing out my memory on the 2gb stick I currently use. I even took video for an hour and only used the first (of 5) indicator lights. The video, by the way, was wonderful. Great quality, great sound... even though it was in a bar and pretty far away from the intended target. Why dont I post it? Nah. I dont even know the beginning of how to edit video... and I wouldnt want to post crap. I have a reputation to uphold.
In other news, the parents have graciously offered to fund a hotel/villa/apartment thing in Orlando for them, us, and my aunt and her girlfriend in October. We'd have to pick up flight and food and tix for parks... but hey. Its still a good deal. M and I ordered out plane tix yesterday through Jet Blue. They're the only ones I hear good things about anymore... but there is alot of time between now and October.
Tomorrow I will be at a Maroon 5/Counting Crows concert at Nissan Pavillion. I know... i know. Nissan is an evil black hole of corporate scum where cars go to die in the parking lot. However... seeing as how the tix were free from my buisness unit at ABCD, we figured it was ok. We'll hit up ma and pa's before the concert just because... but I'll definately be bringing the camera, and we'll see what we see. :)
After the Dave concert, we hit up Williamsburg and then took the long way home by way of Rosewell. Feel free to check out the Rosewell Foundation's website and read up about the history of the house. Its beautiful.
Birthday did not go as planned. The lunch with friends and family was very fun… as were the next 8 hours of the day. However, Sunday was a dud. Never saw Lewis Black.
I do have some pictures, for all my trouble, from the Ft McHenry Tattoo that kinda took us by surprise. We ended up getting in for free, and woulda stayed longer, but a hell of a rainstorm was coming up on us, and as much as I do love playing in the rain, I feared for my camera. We went back to the car and had dinner in the hotel room. Baltimore is a neat place. I just wish that going up there wasn’t always surrounded by iffy memories.
Thursday is another DMB concert. We’re headed down to VABeach for that one, and then, since we’re gonna have a cleaning lady take care of the shitstorm that is our apartment, take a very long time coming back home on Friday. So, more pictures to come then.
Hows work, you ask? I’m still sitting here… googling anything and everything. I wiki edit if the mood moves me, but today I spent the day reading Sims Stories. While I was engrossed in my story du jour, the IT folks came and took away the only printer I knew how to print to. So, now I have no way to print out the certs (or anything else) that I do here. Pff. I guess the day is a’comin where I’m just going to have to send a file to every single HP4500 in the entire ABCD network. Fun.
So, its August. With the passing of my birthday begin the approach of fall, and my favorite season, winter. Call me crazy, but I would much rather be cold, and able to warm myself up than to be hot, and not able to cool down. I also love the wind and the rain. Living someplace like Texas or LA, with only one temperature, would drive me insane. Back in school I was part of a nationwide weather forecasting competition and I won for my forecasts of San Antonio, TX. What did I do to ensure my predictions were spot on? I checked the model output statistics for Monday, and promptly forgot about the whole damn thing for the rest of the week. If you don’t enter a new forecast, the system automatically enters the one for the previous day. I was proud.
In other news, while I love where I live and don’t want to move, the rental office staff is full of insipid, elitist, racist, horrible people. I will be filing a complaint just as soon as the property manager gets back to us on our threat. In the meantime… enjoy the pics!
