Its something that was a recurring phrase over at mah uncle's house. M and I went on vacation to see some DMB (Zomg dont you just love him??) and saw Hershey, PA and went swung up to kick it with my uncle. I'm not supposed to say its his backyard... so I wont. ;) Majority of the pictures taken at the Hershey Gardens, the last few at mah uncle's.
Started off at the parent's house and then after leaving there went on over to see the Tidal Basin at night... didnt get many pics before a storm threatened to kill out fun. Then we got lost in Anacostia. That was fun.
Enjoy pics of flowers, nature shit, my new car (Aptly named Dita von Teese) and good ol' TJ.
At work and I am thinkin of submitting this one. I would submit some of my smaller ones, except that this thing will eventually be blown up to 24" X 16" and I want something thats big enough to handle that kind of WOAHness. Whatcha'll thinkin about this one? (Yes, this is the same job location that I want to kick, claw, scream and tackle my way out of... who says I cant have fun in the meantime?)
Feel like I need a prity picture. I just found out that I didnt get the new position within the company. Good, though. Cuz i've basically accepted the one at the other company. But M ddint get it either. So poo. But the lady did say that both he and I were high on the list for another position over there. So score for him. ;)
Enjoy the piktur.
Yeah, stupid commercials.
Today I spent the day at the parent's house so I could kick it with grandma and partake in the kick ass barbeque that was going down. I was supposed to spend it in Harrisonburg, but M's mom decided to cancel her congressional shindig. Today was hot hot hot. The highest temp that I noticed was 109F. Tomorrow is supposed to be hotter... which must suck for them folks still without any power.
So, below are some pictures from the house.
There was a great cloud formation as we were leaving the grocery store, and since I still had my camera with me, I pulled it out and quickly snapped it. I played with the colors... Below is the original, the warm edit and the cold edit. Cant really see a dif between warm and the original, but you can see how great the cold is.
Or rather... M did it. He bought me the camera of my dreams. The thing I salivated all over at the Circuit City. I'll be using this baby on our trip down to the OBX. It is a dream. The images from the 3 pictures I've taken thus far are cream-worthy. Beautiful.
Today I saw the new Indy Jones movie. They hit my nitche perfectly, because if there is anything I love more than a movie about the Mayans is a movie about the Mayans and aliens!! Sheer perfection in the vein of every other Indy Jones movie. It didnt help when my dad pinched my leg in the middle of a particularly squeal worthy moment... but definately a perfect movie and movie experience. Go see it.
One thing that bugged me though, not really a movie point but rather the fact that I'd never seen H or A bomb tests. I'd seen the pictures and footage of the giant mushroom cloud, but never saw the footage of what a bomb of that magnitude could actually do to things. The melting and sheer destruction. The horrific realization that this thing exists is terrifying. And I am perfectly sure that today we have worse things. Things that nightmares couldnt even fathom. It scared me. Shouldnt have... but it did.
Anyway... so. This week should be glorious. And the images stunning. M kept asking me why I didnt get a DSLR and besides the price (this baby was a whopping $388 compared with $800 for an SLR), I just wanted to start with something a little less scary. I'm not a pro, and I dont intend on quitting my cush contractor job to do weddings, but I would still be able to take nice pictures and maybe set up a table at the Eastern Market. Just a lil somethin something. You know? Yeah, you know.
Mostly because I know that in 6 and a half hours, I will officially be on vacation. Hence the pritty pikture that I did not take. No. This is most certainly not my work. I wish!
The other day M took me around to the Circuit City to pick up a WiiFit (which I will review just as soon as I get my hands on one). Instead we ended up checking out the cameras and I realized, in one sweeping blow, that my poor little 6mp camera is old. Sure, she works perfectly, and is extremely dependable. But ffs, she is out dated by leaps and bounds. I found a very very nice Sony at the CC, and wanted it badly. If only because its got 9 focus points and I think mine has two. But I cant afford it. I mean, I can. But I shouldnt. Never know whats gonna happen in this economy and we're already using the entirety of our "stimulus check" to go on vacation next week. (But it will be well worth it by far)
No one is at work today. The govvies were given a 4 hour early leave. Not so much for the contractors, the real meat and potatos of this whole government. The end game for almost every single individual contractor is to "score a govvie job". Why? Because, while the pay is ridiculously low, the health plan is worth its weight in platinum. They also cannot fire you. No matter how much they try.
Quick interlude... What in the world is an Ogopogo??
This is an Ogopogo. Yeah... blame M for that one.
Moving right along!
So I will not be blogging while on vacation. Sure, it might look like I've lost interest in Vox and blogging, but rest assured that no... I'm just on vacation and will not, I repeat, will not be blogging. Or at least, I'll try really hard not to. Its not my fault if I take some pretty pritty pikturz and just need to share them with the world.
With reminds me... is it worth it to get a flickr account? I mean, I post alot of stuff on wiki, which has some kind of an issue with things from flickr... in short its confusing and annoying... so maybe not. I'll just keep doing it the hard way. In the end, I do keep some pictures for myself. The more artistic ones that arent of "encyclopedic value" to the project and whatnot. Maybe those I'll move to flickr. That would probably be my best move.
Anywhosit, its a great day. Sun is shining, no one is here, responsibility is low, I finally got my higher clearance (officially now) and I'm going on vacation. Is everyone this happy?
